New iTWO installed at Cardiff University
An iTWO microdispensing instrument is now supporting the research group of Dr Oliver Castell at Cardiff University with ultra-low volume dispensing for cutting-edge work in engineering biology, artificial cells and bio-inspired diagnostics.
Picoliter precision for artificial cell research
M2-Automation has installed an iTWO microdispensing instrument for the research group of Dr Oliver Castell at Cardiff University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Our Application Specialist Egon provided on-site installation and intensive hands-on training to ensure a smooth start with the new system.
Dr Castell’s group works at the interface of engineering biology, synthetic biology and microfluidics, with a strong focus on artificial cells, membrane-based systems and bio-inspired materials for smart diagnostics and biosensing applications.
With the iTWO in place, the team can precisely dispense picoliter to nanoliter volumes into complex microfluidic and droplet-based setups. This capability supports low-volume analytical assays, membrane-based artificial cell platforms and other advanced experimental formats where reagent savings, accuracy and reproducibility are critical.
The installation in Cardiff strengthens the use of ultra-low volume microdispensing in cutting-edge research on artificial cells and bio-inspired diagnostic technologies and underlines M2-Automation’s commitment to supporting leading academic groups in engineering biology and pharmaceutical sciences.
